UPDATE: Cats win state gymnastics title; Claude repeats as champ

The River Falls gymnastics team won the Division 2 state title and Wildcat senior Riley Claude won state titles in the all-around and uneven bars for the second straight season at the WIAA Gymnastics Championships Friday and Saturday, March 1-2, in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Cats posted a team score of 142.416 to win Saturday's state team championship and their sixth state title since 2002. Mount Horeb was second with 141.83.

In Friday's individual competition, Claude defended her all-around crown with a score of 37.767 and won her second uneven bars title with a score of 9.553.

Wildcat junior Karlie Place also took home a medal Friday after tying for fifth place in the vault with a score of 9.067.

The Cats received the traditional welcome-home ride atop the city's ladder fire truck Sunday, March 3, at approximately 12:30 p.m. The victory ride began at St. Croix Lanes and traveled south on Main Street, ending with a celebration at the high school.
