Cats send three to state track

Senior Oscar White took second in the boys' triple jump, junior Ethan Genco was second in the boys' 1600 meter run and senior Kali Kramolis placed third in the girls' 100 meter hurdles at the May 27 sectional meet in Wausau to all earn spots at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships June 4-5 in La Crosse.

This will be the first state meet for White and Genco while Kramolis is making her third straight trip to La Crosse. She finished 23rd in the 100 hurdles as a sophomore and 13th last year.

White, who set a new school record of 43 feet, 4.5 inches to win the triple jump at the regional meet May 24 in River Falls, cleared 42-6.75 to finish second at the sectional meet in Wausau. Hudson's Nicholas Lubinski won with a distance of 43-5.

Genco cut over 17 seconds off his 1600 meter regional time of 4:54.33 to finish second May 27 in 4:37.11. Scott Goelden of Wausau West was first in 4:36.91.

Kramolis lowered her regional championship time of 16.52 seconds in the 100 hurdles to 15.81 to finish in third place at the sectional meet. Ellen Stichert of Marshfield was first in 15.60 followed by Kalesha Hazelton of Chippewa Falls in 15.77.

Kramolis was also scheduled to compete in the 100 hurdle preliminaries shortly after May 28 at Memorial Stadium in La Crosse with the finals scheduled for the next morning. Genco was scheduled to run in the 1600 meter race May 28, while White was to compete in the triple jump the next morning.
