WIAA hockey: Fusion advance, Wildcats ousted

Kamryn Jacobs had two goals and an assist and Anna Albrightson, Maddy Shew and Gabby Gresina had a goal and assist each in the St. Croix Valley Fusion's 8-1 victory over Superior in a WIAA Section 1 girls hockey regional final Thursday, Feb. 15, in River Falls.

Up in Superior, the Wildcat boys’ hockey team saw its season come to an end with a 6-1 loss to Superior.

The third-seeded Fusion will face either No. 2 Eau Claire Area or No. 7 Chippewa Falls/Menomonie in a sectional semifinal Tuesday. Feb. 20, at the home of the higher seed. The Stars and Cardinals will meet in their regional final Friday night, Feb. 16, in Eau Claire.

Taylar Meier, Abbie DeLong and Amber DeLog also scored in the Fusion win while Maddy Schultz dished out a pair of assists. Fusion goalie Sydney Seeley finished with 16 saves as St. Croix Valley outshot Superior, 38-16.

Logan Graetz scored the lone Wildcat goal in Superior as the second-seeded Spartans advanced to face No. 3 New Richmond in a boys sectional semifinal Tuesday, Feb. 20. River Falls' season ends with a record of 5-18-1.
