Wildcat gymnasts place third at state

The River Falls High school gymnastics team finished third at the WIAA Division 2 State Championship Tournament in Wisconsin Rapids Friday night.

Whitefish Bay won its third state title in the last four years with a score of 144.5. Mount Horeb took second with 141.582 while defending state champion River Falls placed third with 138.667.

Franklin won the Division 1 state title for the fourth straight season with a score of 147.285.

The State Gymnastics Championships continue Saturday with the individual competition beginning at approximately 11:10 a.m. Four Wildcats—Karlie Place (vault, uneven bars, floor), Brianna Kubic (uneven bars, all-around), Karin Sollom (uneven bars) and Kelly Maier (balance beam)—will compete for individual titles in their respective events.
