Donkey Basketball returns to River Falls

River Falls Mayor Don Richards rides his donkey up the court during the first local Donkey Basketball Game at Meyer Middle School Jan. 24, 2009.

Two years ago, over 1,300 people packed the Meyer Middle School gym to watch local personalities display their skills in a Donkey Basketball Show.

This January, the event returns to River Falls and will be held at the high school gym on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Four teams consisting of high school students, teachers, community members and school administrators will compete. All competitors will ride real, live donkeys while playing a game of basketball.

Pre-sale tickets cost $6 each and will be available beginning Dec. 20 at the high school activities office, First National Bank of River Falls and from any team members playing in the game. Tickets the night of the event will be $8 each at the door.

Final team rosters will be announced next month.
