Soccer splits in BRC play

The Wildcat boys soccer team posted a 1-0 shutout over Eau Claire North before losing to Hudson, 2-0, in a pair of Big Rivers Conference matches last week.

Connor Weinzirl scored the only goal of the game Tuesday, Sept. 12, off an assist from Devlin Laidlaw, in the Cats' first BRC win of the season over Eau Claire North. Jari Zoller recorded seven saves as the Huskies outshot the Wildcats, 12-5.

Thursday, Sept. 14, in Hudson, the Wildcats and Raiders were scoreless through nearly 70 minutes before Hudson's Kolton Prater drilled a hard left-footed shot that beat Zoller. Santi Vergara added a late Raider goal on a breakaway to make the final 2-0.

The Wildcats hosted Menomonie this past Tuesday, Sept. 19 and will host Rice Lake Thursday, Sept. 21, at 5 p.m. at Wildcat Field. They'll head south for a pair of games Saturday, Sept. 23, at Onalaska at 11 a.m. and Holmen at 2:30 p.m. before visiting BRC leader Eau Claire Memorial Tuesday, Sept. 26.
