Two Falcons earn USTFCCA honors

Hogan Kernstock and Lindsey Tolkkinen

Freshman sprinter Hogan Kernstock of Elmwood and sophomore distance runner Linsey Tolkkinen of Delano, Minn., have been named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) 2016 NCAA Division III All-Academic Track and Field Team.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards—competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event, or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.

Kernstock was a member of the Falcons 4x400 meter relay team that finished with a top 35 national ranking after their performance at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open. Talkkinen ranked as high as 45th in NCAA Division III in the women's 10,000 meter run. She finished sixth overall with a time of 37 minutes, 15.13 seconds at the Phil Esten Challenge in April and came in second at the WIAC Outdoor Championships May 5 in Platteville.
