State track: Girls 4x400 sets another record

River Falls girls' 4x400 meter relay set a new school record in the preliminaries before finishing ninth in the finals at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships Saturday, June 3, at Veterans Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.

Freshman Emily Banitt, sophomore Sarah Langlois and seniors Alaina Syverson and Tessa Raynes combined for a time of 3 minutes, 56.49 seconds in Friday's preliminaries, the fourth fastest time of the day and a new school record. They placed ninth in Saturday's finals with a time of 3:59.4.

Banitt also competed in the 100 meter dash prelims Friday and placed 24th overall in 13.19 seconds while junior Samantha Krueger cleared 11-feet to finish 12th in the pole vault.

On the boys side, senior Sam Fritz finished 19th in the 200 meter dash in 22.87 seconds, while the 4x800 meter relay team of Payton Flood, Jared Syverson, Will Bohnert and Niko Zoller placed 21st in 8:16.73.
