Paynotta ends track and field career with All-American efforts

UW-River Falls senior David Paynotta of Finlayson, Minn., ended his collegiate track and field career with a pair of All-American efforts Saturday, May 27, at the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

David PaynottaPaynotta finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.48 seconds and seventh in the 200-meter dash in 21.38 seconds. The top eight finishers in each event earn All-American honors.

Earlier this year Paynotta was the national runner up in the 60-meter dash and placed fifth in the 200-meter dash at the national indoor championships. He is the school record holder in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.72 seconds.

Former Wildcat Taylor Eldred of River Falls also represented the Falcon men at the national championships finishing 14th in the hammer throw with a distance of 171-feet, 6-inches. Senior Sheralynn Linkert competed for the UWRF women and placed 19th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.03 seconds.

UW-La Crosse won its third straight men's national title while Washington University-St. Louis won its first ever women's title.
