Legion state baseball tournament underway

The 2016 American Legion Baseball Class AA State Tournament kicked off this morning with the first of four first round games beginning at 10 a.m.

Region 5 champion Menasha and Region 7 champ Wisconsin Dells got the tournament started with Region 1 runner-up Superior slated to face Region 2 champ Antigo at 1 p.m. Play continues with Seymour, the Region 3 champ, playing Region 6 champion Waterford at 4 p.m. before Region 1 champion and host River Falls faces Region 4 champ Beaver Dam at 7 p.m. following the official tournament opening ceremonies.

Play continues Thursday, July 28, with loser bracket games at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and winners facing off at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. The double elimination tournament continues through the weekend with the championship game scheduled for Sunday, July 31, at noon.

Admission is $5 daily or $15 for a tournament pass. Fans 10-and-under are free.
