Wildcat gymnasts third at state

The Wildcat gymnastics team finished third at the WIAA State Team Gymnastics Championships Friday, March 6, in Wisconsin Rapids.

Mount Horeb won the Division 2 state team title with a score of 141.6833 while Whitefish Bay took second with 140.95. River Falls was third in the 10-team competition with 138.1167, Nicolet was fourth with 135.1667 and Rice Lake/Cumberland took fifth with 134.7167.

The Wildcats’ best score came in the floor exercise, where they posted a total of 35.65. They scored 35.05 in the vault, 33.75 on the balance beam and 33.667 on the uneven bars.

Three Wildcats—Karin Sollom, Kelly Maier and Sam Krueger—will compete in the state individual championships today (Saturday, March 7) in Wisconsin Rapids. Krueger qualified in all four events and the all-around and Sollom will compete on the uneven bars and in the all-around while Maier will compete on the uneven bars and balance beam.
