The Wildcat girls' basketball team couldn't overcome a pair of early double-digit deficits last week, losing at Altoona, 48-43 Tuesday, Nov. 27 and falling to Durand, 52-35, Friday, Nov. 30, at home.

The Cats return to action at home this Friday, Dec. 7, in the first game of a doubleheader with Rice Lake at 5:45 p.m.

Last Tuesday at Altoona, the Wildcats were held scoreless in the first quarter and fell behind 13-0. They outscored the Rails 43-35 the rest of the way but came up short in the end, 48-43.

Lexi Knotek led River Falls with 19 points, including four three-pointers, while Christa Anderson scored 10 points before fouling out late in the game. Amanda Rohl also fouled out, but not before contributing eight points.

Amelia Kjos finished with four points in the loss and McKenna Hage added two.

Friday night the Wildcats and Durand combined for 30 points in the first quarter before totaling just seven in the second.

Durand led 20-10 after one and 24-13 at halftime before the Wildcats shaved four points off the gap to cut the margin to 35-28 at the end of three. But that's as close as they could get as Durand closed the game on a 17-7 run to make the final 52-35.

Knotek had 14 points in the loss, including a pair of three-pointers, while Rohl scored seven. Anderson, Joellen Turner and Lauren Steinhoff all chipped in four points apiece while Kelli Skogen had two.
