River Falls, Hudson advance in golf regional

River Falls tied Superior for first place while Hudson finished third at one of 16 WIAA Division 1 Golf Regionals Wednesday, May 23, at New Richmond Country Club.

Wildcat sophomore Garrett Loomis fired a 74 to earn medalist honors and help the Wildcats tie Superior with a team score of 323. Hudson, led by David Kein's fourth place score of 81, finished third with 335 while Eau Claire Memorial was fourth with 338.

Those four teams will join the top four teams from the Antigo Sectional--D.C. Everest, Marshfield, Antigo and Merrill--at one of eight sectional tournaments Tuesday, May 29, at Riveredge Golf Course in Marshfield. The top two teams from each sectional will advance to the WIAA State Golf Tournament June 4-5 at University Ridge in Madison.

Other River Falls' scores from the New Richmond Regional included Mike Xiong and Holden Ohlsen, each with 82, and Jake Knotek with 85. David Bowers shot an 84 for Hudson while Brody Belland and Ben Lewis each carded 85.
