Wolf new RFHS football coach

There will new a new, but familiar, face on the sidelines for the River Falls High School football team beginning next season.

Meyer Middle School physical education teacher and former Prescott coach Jason Wolf has been hired as the new head coach of the Wildcats, according to district activities director Rollie Hall.

"Coach Wolf brings the experience of being a head coach and a lot of enthusiasm to the position," Hall said. "He will inherit a program that is very stable with a lot of good things going for it, and I'm confident he will continue this. It's not an easy position, but from what we know, he is a very hard worker and I'm sure people will be pleased with his energy."

Wolf, who has been teaching at Meyer Middle School since 1999 and coaching at Prescott since 2004, said he is excited about teaching and coaching in River Falls.

"I think it's a neat thing for the future of the program," he said. "I get to build the relationships with the kids in middle school and continue that through to the high school."

Wolf takes over the reins of the Wildcats from John Bennett, who stepped down at the end of the 2009 season after eight seasons at the helm.

"John's done a great job of bring the community and the football program together," Wolf said. "It's a nice situation. Sometimes when you come in you have to start from square one. But I'm excited because there are so many good things in place already. I just want to continue what's already been started."

Prior to serving as the head coach at Prescott, Wolf was an assistant coach at UW-River Falls in 1998-99 and an assistant with the Wildcats in 2000-01.
