Golf tourney planned as FTD fundraiser

Local golfers are invited to join a Pierce County Farm Technology Days tournament Friday, Sept. 18, at Clifton Highlands Golf Courts.

The fundraiser event will begin at 11 a.m. with lunch and a silent auction. The tournament will be a shotgun start, four-person scramble, starting at 12:30 p.m. The final events of the day will be hors d' oeuvres and a cash bar, closing of the silent auction and awards presentations at 5 p.m.

The $70 per person cost includes golf, cart, lunch and hors d' oeuvres. All proceeds will help support Pierce County Farm Technology Days.

Support levels for the tournament are $280 for a team of four golfers, $150 to sponsor a hole and $50 for silent auction or prize sponsors.

Deadline for entries is Sept. 4. Clifton Highlands is located at N6890 1230th St., Prescott.

FTD has been held each year since 1954 in a different county in Wisconsin. The 2010 event will be hosted by Pierce County. The non-profit educational three-day event draws up to 80,000 people.

The 2010 FTD will be held at the Roger and Beverly Peterson farm south of River Falls. A volunteer force of nearly 1,500 will be needed. Local supporters must also raise about $170,000 in cash donations.
