Days Gone By: Letters to Santa December, 1962

Note to Readers: The following letters were published in the River Falls Journal during the month of December in 1962.

Dear Santa,

My name is Gwen Emerson. I am a good girl sometimes. I would like to have: Susie Smart (Doll), finger nail polish, Rita (doll), plastic fingernails, gloves, necklace, bracelet, game, two stockings, paper dolls, two puzzles, five pieces of bubble gum.

Dear Santa,

We have tried to be busy and helpful little girls lately. We would like some new games and doll clothes, and don't forget something soft and little for our new sister.

We have been busy boys, but we would like two new trucks and some equipment for our John Deere tractors and don't forget all our cousins, aunts and uncles, and pa and grandma. See you early!

Dear Santa Claus,

I am trying to be a good girl. I am four years old and go to nursery school every morning. I would like some play dough, blocks, magic bottle, Betsy Wetsy doll, new blouse, nurse's uniform, stuffed doggie, ice skates, real percolator, and an electric iron. Thank you, and don't miss your lunch on my kitchen table.

My name is Dewayne Hildebrandt, and I'm five years old. I had my brother write this letter for me because I'm too young to write to read. I would like a wheel barrow, doggie in the box, and a toy shovel.

I will leave some lunch for you on the table and if your reindeer are hungry take them down to the pen at Pearly Husfloens.
