Donald O. Antiel

Donald Oscar Antiel, age 96 of River Falls, passed away on November 19, 2017 at the Comforts of Home in River Falls. Donald was born December 23, 1920 in Hinckley, MN to Oscar and Julia (Pepin) Antiel. After high school graduation, Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Florance Anna Dulinski on August 7, 1943. Their marriage was blessed with 10 children: Michael, Ronald, Margie, Rita, Alan, Annette, Dale, Connie, Jean, and Jon. While in the Army, Donald attended school for bakers and cooks, which became his life long career. He owned and operated the Dutch Oven Bakery and Caf in Hudson, WI, and Antiel Bakery in Duluth, MN for many years. He also worked as bakery manager for Ericksons for many years until his retirement. After retirement, Don and Florance enjoyed spending their time up north at their place in Siren, WI. Donald was an active part of his community, as a member of the River Falls American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He served as 2nd Alderman on the River Falls City Council for six years. Don was a devoted member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. Don was happiest when surrounded by his family, and delighted in a good hand of cards. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Florance; children: Ronald (Marilyn) Antiel, Margie (Gary) Selleck, Rita (Erik) Starr, Alan (Pamela) Antiel, Dale (Nancy) Antiel, Connie Mae, and Jean (Ricky) Larson; daughter-in-law, Leah Antiel; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild on the way; sisters, Marilyn (Bob) Gravelle and Jeanette Bray; and sisters-in-law, Colleen Antiel and Stella Reopelle. He was preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Jon; daughter, Annette; sister, Louise Vorwerk; brothers, Gerald, Ray and Eugene; and his parents. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 AM Friday, November 24, 2017 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place one hour prior to Mass at the church. Military honors will be provided by the River Falls American Legion. Interment will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Cemetery. Funeral services are entrusted to the O'Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home and Trusted Cremation Provider of River Falls (715)425-5644.
