After the Journal’s website story lost week about the stray, roaming dog dubbed “Shaggy,” local resident Becky Bugielski said people told her they’d often spotted Shaggy on the east side of River Falls, especially on Elm, Morgan and Birch streets.

Now, Bugielski has good news.

"We caught him!" she said. "He is so sweet and after getting checked and cleaned, he is content to be held and follows me everywhere."

Bugielski worked with The Retrievers, a Minnesota-based all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing lost-dog services for rescues, to help catch Shaggy. She adds that the owner of Kinnic Veterinary in River Falls, 1333 N. Main St.,  offered to give Shaggy a checkup after he’s caught and brought in.

"He truly is a special dog and I know he appreciates the attention and care," Bugielski said. "Thanks to all that helped in this lengthy process."
