UPDATE: Radio Road/Hwy. 35 opens while other roads close

River Falls City Council President Jim Nordgren speaks to a crowd July 21 during the dedication of the new overpass at Hwy. 35.

The new interchange/overpass at Radio Road/Chapman Drive/Hwy. 35 finally opened for traffic late Fridayafternoon, July 25.

The $12 million project took two years to complete. Finishing touches will continue for another week, starting on Monday, July 28.

Part of those finishing touches include closing off accesses to Hwy. 35 at Whitetail Boulevard and County Road U. Barricades and lane closures were set up earlyMonday morning along Hwy. 35 in the Whitetail Blvd./County U area.

Those two accesses to the highway will be permanently closed now that the Radio Road interchange/overpass is done.

Hwy. 35N is transitioning to a freeway, and right-angle entrances and exits are being gradually closed during this transition.

On Monday, July 21, city and state officials held a ribbon cutting for the new Hwy. 35/Radio Road interchange.
