Schroeder, O'Connell win seats on County Board

The Pierce County Board of Supervisors gained three new Supervisors after Tuesday's election. 

While not official, Brian O'Connell defeated Kurt Buckner, 39-17, in a write-in campaign for District 11, Bill Schroeder beat incumbent L. Ron Bartels, 71-68,  in District 14 and Peter Pittman was elected in District 17. O'Connell and Peter Pittman are replacing Greg Place and Mel Pittman, who both chose not to seek reelection. Schroeder previously served on the County Board from 1996-2004. 

The other 14 incumbents -- Robert Mercord, LeRoy Peterson, Jon Aubart, Ruth Wood, Cecil Bjork, Michael Kahlow, Scott Bjork, Dean Bergseng, Ken Snow, Jim Ross, Dale Auckland, Dan Reis, Jerry Kosin and Jeff Holst -- ran unopposed. 

In other contested election results throughout Pierce County,

Prescott has a new Mayor as David Hovel defeated Mark Huber, 717-572. Hovel previously served on the Council. Galen Seipel and Michael Kosmalski were relected as Alderpersons, while Rob Daugherty was elected to the Council as a write-in. Steve Sizemore was elected to the School Board as he defeated Rick Maaske. Sizemore replaces Tom Magnan, who chose not to seek reelection. 

Spring Valley saw no change on its Village Board as incumbents Matt Huepfel, Dale Jacobson and Rich O'Connell were reelected. Two new School Board members were elected as Matthew Schreiber and Andy Johansen garnered the most votes along with incumbent Mary Huepfel. Incumbent Terry Miller didn't receive enough votes. 

Pamela Hinrichs was elected as a trustee for the Village of Maiden Rock. She defeated Michael Mack and Jenny Ness. Hinrichs was elected as a write-in.
