Sheriff retrieves wayward juror
It doesn't happen very often, maybe not once in the last decade, but St. Croix County Clerk of Court Lori Meyer was forced to call upon the sheriff recently to bring in a member of the jury pool who refused to heed the call to serve.
The incident happened April 27, Meyer said. The potential juror flatly refused to show up after the clerk's office contacted him because he hadn't responded to the summons for duty.
"He ultimately was brought in by the sheriff to Judge Howard W. Cameron's courtroom and agreed to serve out the final days of his month of obligation," Meyer said. "Judge Cameron fined him $25."
