Pierce County: Early results show Hove leading

At 9:30 p.m. with 12 of 28 voting units reporting, Pierce County incumbent Sheriff Nancy Hove is leading challenger Bill Parks.

At this point, Democrat Hove, running for a third term, has 2,918 votes to 1,809 for Parks, a 20-year military veteran.

In other races that involve Pierce County, districtwide:

--Incumbent Ron Kind (13,658) is leading challenger Republican Tony Kurtz (10,804) for the state’s Third District seat in the U.S. Congress.

--With just 18% of units reporting, incumbent State Senator Kathleen Vinehout (4,375) has only a three-vote lead against challenger Republican Mel Pittman (4,372) in the 31st District.

--In the Assembly District 93, Republican incumbent Warren Petryk (1,719) leads Democratic challenger Jeff Smith (1,487) with 16% of units reporting.
