Register soon for 'Girls in Science' workshop

The registration deadline for Girls in Science: Seeing, Creating, Inventing, Exploring, Naming, Cooperating and Experimenting at UW-River Falls has been extended. Applications for remaining spaces will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Girls in Science will be held Saturday, April 1. The fee is $18. Register online with River Falls Community Education at www.rflearns.org.

The April 1 workshop will provide girls from grades 4-8 the chance to experience hands-on science projects with scientists, and UW-River Falls science students and professors.

They will cover fields of astronomy, computer science, aviation, forensics, medicine, ecology, environmental studies and genetics.

The event is co-sponsored by the UWRF Physics Department, UWRF College of Arts & Sciences, UWRF Women & Gender Studies Program and the River Falls branch of AAUW.

Girls grades 4-5 go from 8 a.m. to noon; girls grades 6-8 go from 1-5p.m.
