Heartland school opens

With a fall enrollment of 35 students, Heartland Montessori School, N8226 945th St., has added three new staff members along with a new sign and logo. Improvements were made to learning environments, including: New gardens; classroom work-space with a stove for science experiments and cooking exercises that use science, math and reading skills, plus indirect skills like teamwork, sequencing and following instructions; an expanded art program; upgrades to building security, and electrical, heating and plumbing systems; plus new flooring in the Children’s House. Heartland Montessori is an Association Montessori International (AMI) recognized school. It offers two class sections: 1) Children’s House for ages two years, nine months through kindergarten age and 2) Elementary, for 1st-6th grade.
