New maple growing at Greenwood

This young maple tree was planted to replace the recently removed maple that had been a part of the Greenwood lawn since around the time the school was built.

Greenwood Elementary School has a new addition to its front lawn. A young maple tree has been planted to replace the recently removed old maple that had stood in the Greenwood lawn since the school was built.

The old maple tree was cut down for safety reasons, as it was threatening to split and crush bystanders at any moment.

The new maple is the largest transplantable tree Greenwood was able to get.

The bench dedicated to Lexy VanNurden is being re-stained but will be back in place around the new maple tree soon.

The new tree isn't the only new development at Greenwood or in the River Falls School District. For more information on what's new this year at the local schools, see the Aug. 17 print edition of the River Falls Journal.
