Schachtner defeats Jarchow in special election

Baccalaureate set for May 26

A Baccalaureate for graduating seniors from the River Falls area will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, in the River Falls High School auditorium.

The theme is "Carpe Diem," a Latin phrase meaning "seize the day." The guest speaker is Kevin Black of the Victory School Wrestling in River Falls.

Kevin's accomplishments include: four-time high school state wrestling champion, River Falls High School with a 160-0 career record, four-time Cadet/Junior Freestyle State Champion; two-time Junior Greco-Roman State Champion; ASICS, Intermat and Amateur Wrestling News All-American; NCAA Division 1 All-American (UW-Madison); and three-time NCAA Division 1 National Qualifier.

Black was the 2007 and 2009 U.S. World Team coach of women's freestyle wrestling, the U.S. Junior World Team coach, 2006 U.S. PanAm Team coach, the NYAC head coach women's freestyle, 2004-2006 WWF State coach, 2004-2005 UW-Madison, and the 2000-2004 Black Bros Wrestling.

The public is welcome to attend.

A cake reception will follow. This annual event is sponsored by Souled Out, youth ministries of River Falls.
