Body discovered along St. Croix River in Hudson

Luckily, no injuries as drunk drivers go astray

A 54-year-old Hudson man was arrested for his 4th DWI after allegedly running into a center median, blowing a tire, spinning into a ditch, getting out and weaving across the road while heading north on Hwy. 65.

This occurred Monday evening, Oct. 28. Another driver followed to report the suspect driver was nearly running into oncoming traffic.

River Falls police caught up with the driver north of County Road J in the town of Kinnickinnic. His damaged tire had fallen off.

He told officers he was changing a flat. He also said his son had been driving, but there was no son to be found. Then he said a friend of his was driving, but that he’d run off in an unknown direction.

Officers didn’t believe these stories. They describe the man as having slurred speech, glossy, bloodshot eyes and having urinated in his pants. Vodka and Hurricane High Gravity beer was allegedly found in his car.

After field sobriety tests, a blood sample taken at the hospital, the Hudson man was taken to county jail in Hudson.
