Prescott man arrested on suspicion of first-degree homicide

An 18-year-old Prescott man was arrested Wednesday night and was booked on suspicion of attempted first-degree homicide and misdemeanor battery.

The Pierce County Jail log shows a Jessy Jordan Holtzkamp was booked into the Pierce County Jail after 11 p.m., matching those alleged charges. Prescott Police Chief Mike R. Bondarenko said formal charges are pending with the Pierce County District Attorney's Office.

Bondarenko said after 8 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local motel on an emergency medical services call for a possible miscarriage.

"Our investigation," the chief states in a press release, "revealed that the woman, a 27-year-old Prescott woman, had been staying at the motel with (Holtzkamp), who is allegedly the father of the unborn child. The couple, who are not married, had been involved in a domestic argument. During the argument, the man allegedly struck the woman in the stomach several times in order to cause a miscarriage and end the pregnancy."

The victim was transported to a Hastings, Minn., hospital for treatment.

More updates will be posted upon availability.
