Nine-year-old stabs mother's attacker
A Fond du Lac man is facing three criminal charges, after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman but was stabbed by the girl's daughter before he could do so.
Jason Fields, 27, was in jail at last word under a $5,000 bond. Police said they were called to the woman's house early Sunday, June 12, after Fields jumped on her car and broke her windshield.
Officers said they left after Fields paid for the damage and agreed to stay away. But prosecutors said he returned, strangled the woman, and held a knife to her throat.
During the incident, police said the woman's 9-year-old daughter stabbed Fields in the back with a kitchen knife, after which he groaned and dropped his knife. Police quoted the girl as saying she had also stabbed Fields in a leg two years earlier when he hurt her mother.
Fields is charged with felony strangulation, felony reckless endangerment, and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. He's due back in court June 23, when a judge will decide if there's enough evidence to order a trial on the felony charges.
