Arsonist heading to jail

A River Falls man's "stupid" mistake has resulted in a felony conviction and jail time.

Christopher D. Pixley, 20, 437 Kennedy St., pled guilty to arson Wednesday in Pierce County Circuit Court and was placed on three years probation. One of the probation conditions ordered by Judge Joseph Boles was four months jail.

Pixley was charged with arson following a July 23 incident when a UW-River Falls storage shed full of hay rolls went up in flames.

According to the criminal complaint, Pixley was allegedly drinking earlier in the night with two other local men who were also arrested. They are Korbin L. Burke, 19, 1450 S. Wasson Lane, No. 5, and Dalon D. Pearson, 19, 1536 S. Wasson Lane, No. 1.

Burke and Pearson were stopped by campus police about 200 yards west of the fire. They denied involvement in the blaze, but implicated Pixley. Police called Pixley and questioned him at his apartment.

He initially denied lighting the fire, but said he saw the fire and called 911 but was told it had already been reported.
