Assistant DA guilty of traffic violations

A Pierce County assistant district attorney was found guilty Friday of two traffic violations for his involvement in a motorcycle accident last month.

Gregory Amann, 53, Ellsworth, pled guilty to driving too fast for conditions and failure to notify police from an accident which occurred Oct. 10.

According to the accident report, Amann was southbound on County Road F, on his motorcycle, descending a steep hill and negotiating a sharp curve when he lost control because he was going too fast. He then went across the northbound lane, hit the edge of the road and steered back across the southbound lane where the motorcycle overturned. The reports said Amann left the scene.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department was notified of the accident at 9:14 p.m. when Amann walked into Muddy Waters and a 911 call was placed. Prescott police and EMS responded. A sheriff's deputy was requested 30 minutes later after officers learned the accident occurred outside Prescott city limits.

Reports state Amann refused medical treatment. Because it wasn't known when the accident occurred, no alcohol test was given, according to the reports.

Pierce County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Boles ordered Amann to pay the forfeitures of $213.10 for driving too fast and $263.50 for failure to notify police.
