Bacon Bash winners on national TV

Caryl Wiley, grand champion of the first River Falls Bacon Bash cooking competition last September, will be shown competing on TV this Thursday night, July 17, on the new FYI network.

Wiley was videotaped for the hour-long show while competing in the World Food Championships 2013 Bacon Episode in Las Vegas. She finished 16th.

Wiley was assisted by her sister Kay Miller of Des Moines, Iowa, and Michelle Calcagno of Baldwin. Together they called themselves the “Sizzlin’ Sisters.”

The Food Championship competition will be shown on FYI from 9-10 p.m. July 17.

On Comcast, the channel is 115. FYI is also carried by satellite providers Dish and Direct.

Another winning River Falls Bacon Bash contestant in the professional category, Damon Holter of Croix Valley Foods, also competed in the World Food Championships shown on the FYI Network.

Bacon Bash 2014

The second annual River Falls Bacon Bash will be held Sept. 13-14.

 This two-day festival celebrates all things bacon, pig-themed activities for the entire family, live music, merchandise from local artists, bacon vendors and much, much more! Come out and sample bacon-inspired dishes from local restaurants and food vendors. Then cast your vote for the People’s Choice Winner! Cooking enthusiasts are welcome to participate in the Amateur Bacon Cook-off. 

Young and old are invited to partake in pig-themed activities including pig races, an Amateur Bacon Cook-off, live music, local micro-brewed beer and much more. The 2014 Bacon Bash will feature restaurants and food vendors serving dishes ranging from bacon-wrapped delights to ice cream. Some 40 merchandise vendors will be showcasing their products including specialty sauces, ice cream, arts, crafts and novelty items that put a “twist” on marketplace shopping
