Two injured in two-car accident Friday afternoon

Where the Dodge Stratus driven by Carlos Maciel Leijo came to rest after Friday's afternoon accident, on Highway 10, east of Plum City. Leijo was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The other three passengers were uninjured. 1 / 2

Two people were taken to area hospitals Friday afternoon following a two-car crash on US Highway 10 in the town of Union. 

Daniel Albright, 33, River Falls, was eastbound on Hwy. 10 when he drove his Ford Taurus left of center and struck a westbound Dodge Stratus vehicle driven by Carlos Maciel Leijo, 22, Maiden Rock, reports Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Herman Kreig in a news release. The accident happened around 2:45 p.m., about one mile east of 170th St. 

Albright was transported to the Durand Hospital by Durand Ambulance with undetermined injuries. Leijo was transported from the scene by Ellsworth Ambulance to a secure landing zone in Ellsworth, where he was eventually flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with undetermined injuries. A Regions spokesperson said Monday Leijo was treated and released.  Leijo's wife and his two kids were passengers in the vehicle, They were uninjured.

Albright's vehicle came to rest about 30 yards down a ravine, while the Leijo vehicle rested in the eastern shoulder.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department was also assisted by Plum City EMS, Plum City Fire and the Wisconsin State Patrol. Kreig added the crash remains under investigation.
