Cancer claims life of young RF woman

Twenty-year-old Grace Goblirsch lost her eight-month fight with cancer and died Friday morning, Aug. 23, at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

Burial Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at St. Bridget Church in River Falls.

Memorial visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, also at St. Bridget’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace's family.

Funeral arrangements are with Bakken-Young of River Falls.

Goblirsch is a 2011 River Falls High School graduate. She was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia, a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow, last December. At the time she was attending Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota.

A local Tri4Grace triathlon was held by supporters in late April to raise money in Grace’s name for the Minnesota chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

More than 150 participants raised over $8,000.

Tri4Grace was organized by Lynn Huiskamp, who was Grace’s high school swim coach and friend.

Grace’s parents are Sue and Greg Goblirsch.
