Dunn County fire hampers harvest

A grain company in northwest Wisconsin seeks a replacement corn bin and dryer to keep their business going in the wake of a Dec. 1 fire. The blaze destroyed about 4,000 bushels of corn at Rusk Prairie Grain near Tainter Lake in Dunn County. Co-owner LuAnn Prochnow said they're happy no one was hurt - but as of yesterday, they were scrambling for replacement equipment to keep the business running through a late harvest this year. The old bin-and-dryer was worth $400,000, and the burned-out corn was valued at almost $18,000. Menomonie Fire officials are trying to determine a cause. A half-dozen other fire departments helped extinguish the blaze.
