Western Treasures, a seasonal gift shop for the holidays, will open its doors Friday morning in the vacated space on Main Street where Kinni Lounge was until closing earlier this year.

Owner Dawn Flagg just moved to River Falls from Texas. She has a daughter in the equestrian program at UW-River Falls. Her store's handcrafted merhcandise will have a decidely Western motif.

Interestingly, Flagg is turning over all her profits to local charities.

After a purchase, customers place the merchandise tag in an envelope by the front door. There are many envelopes, each bearing the name of a certain nonprofit charity.

Flagg may add more envelopes with the names of other charities, depending on what people request.

Western Treasures will be open seven days a week until Christmas. The Friday, Nov. 13, opening is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be more on this new business story in the Nov. 18 print edition of the River Falls Journal.
