Governor thanks Chiefs

Governor Jim Doyle visited UW-River Falls at noon Tuesday for a traditional courtesy visit to the Kansas City Chiefs. This year, his greeting also included goodbyes since the Chiefs will not return to River Falls for training camp as they have for nearly two decades.

Carla Vigue, spokeswoman for Doyle, said he talked to players, team leaders including the general manager and coach. Mayor Don Richards, City Administrator Scot Simpson and many UW-RF officials welcomed Doyle at the University Center.

Vigue said the governor visits as a courtesy to thank the Chiefs for bringing their team to western Wisconsin each year.
