Eight gymnasts all-state

Eight members of the Wildcat gymnastics team have earned positions on the 2008-09 Wisconsin Gymnastics Coaches Association All-State team.

Rachel Paulson, Kali Kramolis, Ruth Anderson-Beng, Amanda Guise, Carly Jerry and Emmy Johnson all earned spots in the first team while Sierra Becker and Maggie Bloom were named to the second team.

Paulson, the WIAA Division 2 all-around state champion, earned first team honors in the all-around while Guise, the state champion on the balance beam, was named to the first team on beam.

Kramolis was honored in the vault and Anderson-Beng on the uneven bars while Jerry and Johnson were both named to the team for the floor exercise.

Becker earned second team honors on the uneven bars and Bloom was named to the second team on the balance beam.

Paulson, Kramolis, Johnson, Jerry, Bloom, Kayla Rohl and Sarah Bystrom were also named to the Academic All-State team.

Paulson and Kramolis were first team All-Big Rivers Conference gymnasts this season while Bloom, Jerry and Johnson were named to the second team and Guise received honorable mention.

At the team's annual banquet March 12, Kramolis was honored as the Cats' leading scorer, Jerry earned the best tumbler award, Bloom was named best dancer and Paulson earned honors for most powerful bars and vault.

Other awards went to Bloom for most helpful, Lauren Gutting for most team spirit and Rose Tashjian for most improved.

The Wildcats were BRC and sectional champions and finished second at the WIAA Division 2 State Championships this season.
