The win boosted the Wildcats' record to 6-2 overall, 4-2 in the Big Rivers Conference, and ensured the Cats a berth in the WIAA playoffs for the second straight season. Rice Lake fell to 2-6, 1-5 in the BRC.
Johnson scored on runs of 5, 69, 9 and 1 yard in the first quarter to stake the Cats to a 28-0 lead. He added a 14-yard touchdown run in the second quarter before exiting the game at halftime.
Junior fullback Ben Wunrow bulled over from a yard away in the third quarter to make the score 40-0. Rice Lake's only touchdown came on a 9-yard run by Nick Solum with 3:42 remaining in the game.
The Wildcats will wrap up the regular season Thursday, Oct. 23, at Menomonie. The Indians (5-3, 4-2) are coming off a 33-14 loss to Chippewa Falls (8-0, 6-0) Friday night that clinched the Cardinals' second straight BRC title.
