Summer concert series begins

The Chris Silver Band will perform a mix of Jam Band and Bluegrass styles at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, as the UW-River Falls Summer Concert series makes its start at the Wall Amphitheatre. In the event of rain, festivities will be held in the University Center.

Grilled brats, hamburgers and soda will be available for sale.

St. Croix Community Band gears up

Community musicians interested in performing with the St. Croix Valley Community Band for the summer are invited to meet on Tuesdays in June and Tuesdays and Thursdays in July starting June 10 for rehearsals from 7-9 p.m. at the Hudson Senior High School.

Free concerts are planned throughout the summer, including:

  • Saturday, July 19 at 6 p.m. in the Lakefront Park Bandshell, Hudson. The concert is part of both The Phipps Center for the Arts and the St. Croix Valley Community Band's 25th anniversary celebrations.
  • Tuesday, July 22, 7 p.m., Peterson's Valley View Far, 3148 150th Ave., Glenwood City. Donations accepted for pie/ice cream social and dinner at 5 p.m. Guests should bring lawn chairs.
  • Wednesday, July 23, 7 p.m., Heritage Center, S. Knowles Ave., New Richmond. Farmer's market and food available for purchase. Guests should bring lawn chairs.
  • Thursday, July 24, 7 p.m., location TBA, River Falls.

    Concert will help fund trip

    Musicians Chris Ashwood, David Milne and the Nothin' But Sax Quintet from UR-River Falls will give a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Bethel Highlands Lutheran Church, 504 Frontage Road, Hudson. The event is free to the public.

    Donations will be accepted to help with the quintet's trip to the university's sister school of Shih-Chien University in Taiwan this summer.

    Refreshments will be served.
