Kids 'Grow to Learn' at community garden

Children and their parents came to the Grow to Share Community Gardens to explore the gardens and learn more about Grow to Share's "Grow to Learn" kids program Wednesday, July 31. Plants aren't the only things growing at Grow to Share Community Gardens in River Falls this summer. Grow to Share has been running a series of "Grow to Learn" classes for kids age 2-5 and up.

Through the weekly classes held at the community gardens east of Hoffman Park in River Falls, children learn about plants and gardening. On Wednesday, July 31, Grow to Share teamed up with the River Falls Public Library, holding the Grow to Learn class at 11 a.m. after the library's 10:30 a.m. summer reading program session. Elise Gregory, children's garden coordinator, said children and their parents and caregivers explored the garden, learned more about Grow to Share and helped water some plants.

Grow to Learn classes are usually held Wednesdays from 9:30-10:15 a.m. The next classes will be Aug. 7 and Aug. 14. A final program for the season will be held Aug. 28. Gregory said Grow to Share plans to bring back the Grow to Learn classes next summer.
