The summer Kids Club and Opti-Club program is based out of the River Falls High School. Kids Club Supervisor Katy Killian said the kids are very busy and rarely are at the high school, instead they are on field trips, at Glen Park Pool or at the public library. The 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday program, has numerous options from 5-day to half-day options. River Falls painter Harold Henson suffered serious burns to both hands but survived a Dec. 19 fire that left his house at 212 S. Wasson Lane uninhabitable. Thanks to Harold’s efforts, his beloved dog Peanut got out alive. Three pet cats were not so fortunate. Harold’s wife of 17 years, Dr. Loretta Henson, a psychologist who offices at 123 W. Cascade Ave., was leaving work when told about the blaze.

High school exchange student Ana Santamarina Fernandez loves snow and autumn leaves, two things she doesn’t see in her home city, La Coruna, Spain. Her host family, parents Greg and Tammy Haas, and daughter Brittany Haas, plan to take her skiing sometime this winter.
