Four people were named Most Admired Senior Citizens during the Pierce County Fair Friday morning.

Jerry Kosin of Prescott, Beulah Thompson of Spring Valley and Gloria and Gordon Nelson of Ellsworth were this year's inductees.

Kosin has been a member of the Pierce County Board of Supervisors since 1998. He is presently the second Vice-Chair and is chairman of the Agricultural and Extension and Land Conservation committees. He also sits on the Building, Finance and Personnel, Solid Waste, Highway Safety Coordinator and the Fair committees.

Kosin has managed a cash grain and Holstein farm since 1970. He has been married to wife Bonnie for over 60 years and are the parents of two children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Thompson is considered "an ambassador to Spring Valley," said Fair Secretary Tammy Pitzen who announced her accomplishments.

She has volunteered her time to the Red Cross Blood Drive, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and American Legion Auxiliary. Pitzen said Thompson has served in every capacity at St. John's Lutheran Church the past 60 years, where they consider her their "resident angel."

She was also an librarian for over 30 years, makes numerous visits to the Spring Valley Health Care Center where she reads to residents and is a 14-year cancer survivor.

The Nelsons are known for helping establish the Ellsworth Senior Citizens Center over 40 years ago, where Gloria was the Director for over 23 years. Both are still active as they are drivers for the Aging and Disability Resource Center and Meals on Wheels.
