River Falls Relay for Life set for last weekend in March
The American Cancer Society will host “Team up against cancer,” this year’s sports-themed Relay for Life be Friday, March 28, to Saturday, March 29, at River Falls High School.
Teams of 15 people will camp out at the high school and take turns walking around the track.
The Relay will Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event. It offers local residents the chance to participate in the fight against cancer.
The opening ceremonies will start at 6 p.m. Friday. River Falls Journal Sport Editor Bob Burrows will act as emcee.
The honorary chairs from the 2014 Relay for Life are Caleb Peterson and Diane Mulhollam.
They are local cancer survivors with courageous stories to tell about what they went through and how they were supported.
Relay for Life begins Friday, March 28, with a free-will donation spaghetti dinner from 5-8 p.m.
The opening ceremony is at 6 p.m. Later that night there will be a pie-in-face contest, hula hoop competition, scavenger hunt, silent auction, Luminaria ceremony and more throughout the night until the closing ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday.
