‘Hometown Girl’ sings her story

River Falls-born singer Shalo Lee holds her new CD “Hometown Girl.” The Americana CD features 10 songs, all co-written by Lee.

Former Miss River Falls Shalo Lee said she had her “public debut” as a singer at the 1997 Miss River Falls pageant.

“That was the night that changed everything, really,” Lee said. “It wasn’t really the pageant, but being able to sing in front of people.”

After graduating River Falls High School in 1998, Lee went on to join many bands, and in 2011 formed “The Shalo Lee Band,” with which she recently recorded her first CD “Hometown Girl.”

The CD will be on sale starting Feb. 15, on iTunes and CD Baby for $9.99 or $15 for a hard copy available through in person at Lee’s shows or through her website
