River Falls' got talent

Two River Falls citizens placed in the 2013 Pierce County Fair Talent Show Finals on Saturday, Aug. 10. Grant Humphrey placed first in the senior division and Natalie Simpson placed second in the junior division.

The Pierce County Fair Talent Show was held Thursday, Aug. 7 with 28 acts from Bay City, Plum City, Spring Valley, Ellsworth, Prescott and River Falls. First place winners of the local talent shows performed in the finals on Saturday, Aug. 10, four from the Junior division and four from senior division. 

Humphrey played the electric guitar and sang "Islands in the Sun" by Weezer. Humphrey will be a senior at River Falls High School in the fall. He is active in the RFHS choir program and a member of Costumed Carolers. He has been involved in the St. Croix Valley Music Education Assocaiation Choir and Wisconsin State Music Association. He was named WSMA Exemplary Soloist in 2012. He is also active in his church's music program. 

Simpson will be a sixth-grader at Meyer Middle School in the fall. She is a member of the MMS band and choir. She has performed as a soloist in four Westside Elementary musicals. She also performed as a member of the children's chorus for the River Falls Community Theater production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Gretta Stark

Gretta Stark has been a reporter for the River Falls Journal since July of 2013. She previously worked as a reporter for the New Richmond News from June 2012 to July 2013. She holds a BA in Print and Electronic Media from Wartburg College.
