Public TV to feature books and bars in River Falls

Last summer while working on her Master of Library Science degree at the River Falls Public Library, Heather Johnson created and promoted “Book Clubs in the Bars” for those over the age of 21.

The informal group met once a month in the evening at a downtown bar for relaxed discussions on various books read through the summer.

Group members could also eat and drink as they chatted about each month’s book selection.

Wisconsin Public Television sent a reporter and camera operator to interview and film the book club project.

It all comes down to 3 1/2 minutes of air time on the "Wisconsin Life” program that was aired Monday, Feb. 3.

Those without access to WPT on their TV can go to and look at links to  “Wisconsin Life,” or go to YouTube and look up “Book Club in a Bar River Falls.”
