Its official: River Falls Days has moved

A new location for River Falls Days has been approved. The City Council approved the new location during its Tuesday, Jan. 28 meeting, as a part of the Chamber of Commerce's annual request for city assistance.

Chamber CEO Chris Blasius explained the change of location to the council. She said there has been a decreasing amount of space for River Falls Days activities in its prevous location at Second and Locust streets. She said the chamber often had to use private property for River Falls Days events, which meant there was no guarantee that location would be availible from year-to-year.

So, the chamber proposed moving River Falls Day festivities to a new location on West Maple Street, near Veterans Park and Heritage Park.

Other changes to River Falls Days include removing Friday night gate fees, replacing the Thursday night street dance with a truck pull and having more family-friendly events, especially on Sunday.

The chamber also requested aid for other 2014 community events, including the Bacon Bash, St. Patrick's Day, The Car Cruze-Ins and River Dazzle.
