Dodge Rodeo coming to Glenwood City

The second annual St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo will be held Friday and Saturday, June 26 and 27, at the St. Croix County Fairplex, home of the St. Croix County Fair, in Glenwood City.

The two-day event will highlight professional rodeo competitors in seven events, and a variety of entertainment for all.

Advanced ticket prices for the event are $10 for adults and $6 for children (5-12). Pre-sale discount tickets are available at several businesses in Glenwood City: Ormson's SuperValu, Countryside Cooperative, Hiawatha National Bank; in Hudson: Angels Pet World; in Connorsville: Herdsman Feeds; area Dodge Chrysler Jeep Dealers: Bernards in New Richmond, Gilberts in Sand Creek. Adult admission at the gate will be $13 per person; $9 for children 5-12; and free for children under 5 years old.

For 60 years the Barnes PRCA Rodeo Company has toured to rodeos nationwide, and will return as this year's stock company. Attend the St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo and experience seven rough riding events including tiedown roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, bareback bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing and team roping.

Come to the rodeo on Friday, June 26, for Military Night as all past and present members of the armed forces will be recognized. Individuals with a military ID or a membership card from the American Legion or VFW will receive a $2 discount on gate admission.

The Friday program will begin at 7 p.m. with a military honor guard, and will conclude with live music by the Hillbilly Mafia Band immediately following the rodeo.

Family Night at the PRCA Rodeo is Saturday, June 27, with activities beginning at 4 p.m. Attractions will include a Fantasy Corral courtesy of Diana and Larry Rickard of Woodville. The Corral is an educational and engaging experience as it features a petting zoo of 15 different species of exotic animals ranging from buffaloes to camels depending on availability. Kids can also enjoy pony rides which will be provided for a charge as part of the Fantasy Corral.

Children between ages 5 and 8, and weighing less than 55 pounds may be signed up at the rodeo for Mutton Bustin' Friday and Saturday evenings. Ten lucky riders will be drawn by lot to get the opportunity to ride sheep as part of the rodeo. Winners will receive a $20 cash prize plus a traveling trophy. All participants will receive a $10 participation award, a Mutton Bustin' T-shirt, and a can of pop.

The reigning Miss Rodeo Wisconsin 2009, Eileen Lenzer, will make an appearance. A native of Wausau, Lenzer travels throughout the state to promote rodeo.

Also attending both evenings will be the 2009 St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Queen, Emily Deiss, and princesses, Emily Olson and Alexa Hoffman.

The rodeo will come to a close on Saturday evening with a professional fireworks display at 10 p.m.
