Letter: Emergency responders, officers earn my respect, gratitude
On Saturday, Dec. 29, while drinking coffee at McDonald's, a friend and I witnessed a nearby customer apparently having a health crisis.
The manager, Elizabeth, spotted him immediately and, while holding him upright, asked my friend to get him a glass of orange juice and then had another employee call 911.
Within minutes, both the EMTs and police were there.
The EMTs took blood pressure and other vital signs. The police talked quietly with him, checked their laptop computer, and finally took him away in handcuffs. We learned later there was a warrant for his arrest.
I don't know the outcome, but I was impressed with the promptness, courtesy, and professionalism of both the EMTs and the police.
I, for one, am grateful for their service and am happy to live in a city where I can respect them both.
